Pusuant to retiring from my engineering practice in 1997 I enrolled at the
Westchester Art Workshop to study sculpture and ceramics. In past years I
engaged in scultpture, cartooning, life drawing and stained
glass hobbies. It was in the Arts Workshop that working with clay became an
obsession and love of craft that continues to in intensify with time.Over the years
I have had the privilege of studying with Connie Sherman,Clif Mendelson,Leslie
Dor,and Jeanne Carreu. In addition I attended and continue to attend workshops
conducted by notable ceramists such as Suze Lindsay,Karen Karnes,Todd
Wahlstrom,Mark Shapiro and others.
In 2003 I opened my Hartsdale , New York studio. At present I work in my studio
and the Whistle stop gallery in Garrison, and study at the Clay Art Center in
Portchester.
I work primarily with medium and high fired clays, porcelain and stonewareI.I
glaze in both oxidation or reduction. My creations include functional and
decorative,wheel thrown,or handbuilt.
The work is strongly influenced by extensive travel, interest in archeaology and
folk art,and a love for the outdoors. My masks reflect a study of worldwide crafts.I
often decorate by carving curved lines simulating rolling hills, leaves or shruberry.
I have exhibited in group shows at the Wesrchester Arts Workshop, the Clay Art
Center,the Nothern Wetchester Art Center,Eastchester Library,the Briarcliff
Congregational Church and Whistle Stop Gallery.
I am a member of the Hudson River Potters,The Potters Council, and the
Westchester Arts Council.
