The Hudson River Potters (HRP) was founded in 1974 in response to needs of the Lower Hudson Valley ceramics community. Membership is open to all artists and craftspeople, professionals and amateurs, active in the ceramic arts. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS MONTHLY MEETINGS Meetings provide an opportunity to socialize, network, and exchange ideas, making for an atmosphere rich in shared techniques and creative energy. Meetings feature presentations of noted ceramic artists and HRP members (including topics on glazes and glazing, hand building, wheel throwing, ceramic design, all forms of firing, sculpture, tiles, etc.). Meetings are held at Clay Art Center, Port Chester, NY. STUDY GROUPS Members with specific interests are encouraged to form study groups and report findings to the general membership FIELD TRIPS and FOREIGN TRAVEL Periodic field trips of ceramic interests are organized to museums, galleries, or studios. In the past few years we organized trips with a ceramic orientation to India and to Japan. ANNUAL POTTERY SHOWS AND EXHIBITS Participation in these shows is open to all interested members. DIRECTORY LISTINGS As an affiliate member of the Westchester Arts Council, HRP members are entitled to be listed in the WAC Artists Directory. COMMUNICATION Organizational news, upcoming HRP events, and news of interest to the pottery community are disseminated monthly in the HRP Newsletter sent to all members.
