The inspiration for my hand-built
ceramic forms is attributed to the
mountains and sand dunes of Egypt’s
western desert and its oasis’s. The
strong forms and jagged outlines that
are characteristic of this area are
echoed in my ceramics.
The other main influence in each piece
is the human body. Each piece is
evocative of the unique landscape as
well as the human form. These two
aspects complement each other; each
represents something organic and
sensual - powerful yet delicate. Nature
and fertility are strong themes in my
work. Color and texture play an
important part in my creative process.
The curves, cracks, crevices, and
jagged edges of the clay all interweave
to create surfaces and shapes
embedded in my memory.
