| Toni Levin toni11@comcast.net My Grandmother made homemade pasta every Sunday. Watching her make dough fascinated me. The simplicity of flour and water transformed into a celebration of family around those meals with aunts, uncles and cousins. That’s why I make tableware. Those Sunday dinners at Grandma’s are cherished memories of family gathered around traditional foods. There is a simplicity to clay, inviting an inner calm. I like things plain and simple, useful, functional. I enjoy the pure creamy color and smooth, soothing texture of porcelain. I’m drawn to greens and blues which evoke for me the cool ocean and the heat of the summer sun which I find vital and healing. Working on the wheel expresses an inner longing to center and open myself, to stretch and become something new. My hope is to transform clay into a celebration of the simple pleasures of family life. I would be honored to have my serving pieces become a part of your family traditions. |
